One of the biggest challenges a new worker faces (and co-ops even more so) is learning the ropes. At LoyaltyOne, you’re encouraged to take every opportunity to study on your own and pair-up with colleagues to help get you started. Studying up on the technologies you’ll be working with and doing practice examples helps to ground you in the basics, and pairing-up with colleagues allows you to observe, learn, ask questions and even provide feedback.

But don’t limit yourself to reading and observing. The best way to learn is to get actively involved in the development of the software you’re working on. Specifically, when pairing-up, don’t be afraid to take the driver’s seat. Your colleagues will be more than willing to let you try applying what you’ve been learning. And if you’re unsure about anything at all, don’t hesitate to ask – your team has your back!
